Three Cheers (and Chances) for Professional Development

Professional development is an important part of increasing the contribution of your in-house team. That’s why IHAF’s online seminar series is focused on programming that can boost your effectiveness by teaching new skills. Over the next few months, IHAF is offering three professional development opportunities—free for members and available to non-members for a small fee. The best part is that you don’t need to take time away from the office to participate. People often call our webinars “lunch and learns.” We call them time well spent.

1. On Thursday, March 19th, Rick Robinson who serves as chief strategy officer for Billups, an IHAF member company, is presenting The People’s Space. In this session, Rick will talk about how our visual human nature is suited to out-of-home media, how our on-the-go digital lifestyle demands instant gratification, and the resulting challenges advertisers face merging content with context.

2. On Thursday, April 16th, industry consultant Douglas Spencer of Spencer Brenneman presents Good Cop, Brand Cop. In this session, you’ll hear why consistency is integral to building strong brands and how finding the right governance model is essential to getting there. Stop being labeled as “brand police” and start building credibility with your clients and trust in your team.

3. On May 14th, Marta Stiglin, IHAF Board member and principal at Stiglin Consulting, will host the ever-popular Writing Better Briefs. In this session, Marta will walk through the common elements of a project brief including who writes it, who it’s written for, and the role of a kick-off meeting in the process. Best (and worst) practices will be shared.

Each of these sessions offers benefits to you and those on your team—but that’s not all we have planned for 2015. Check our Upcoming Events page often for more webinars plus details on the IHAF Huddle regional discussion groups, the IHAF Annual Conference & Awards Show, our Pop-Up Breakfasts and more. By attending an IHAF event you’re sure to walk away with meaningful learning that can help you develop in your role. I look forward to “seeing you” at our webinars and meeting you at an in-person event this year.
